The wrong shoe
This concept is set to take over the fashion world this Autumn/Winter; first coined by New York based stylist Allison Bornstein, it is really is a simple one - wear a shoe that you wouldn’t automatically think works with the outfit you are in. For instance, a chunky boot or loafer with a pretty cotton summer dress, or a flip flop with a pair of suit trousers. These are my ‘wrong shoe’ current ideas...
Maison Margiela Tabi ballerina shoes
These would look great with a pair of cycling shorts or knee length culottes. I would also wear them with a cotton summer dress.
Essen Modern Moccasin
These aren't in my wardrobe yet, but I'm on a look out for some loafers. Again, as above will go great with a cotton dress, or cycling shorts.
Toteme Leather Sandals
I love these - great for evenings when you need something a little elevated than flip flops. Wear with a pair of wide legged suit trousers for thar 'wrong shoe' look.
New Balance BB650 High Tops
Pretty sure these will be a staple pair in my wardrobe for A/W 2023. Would wear these with Toteme's silk trousers, Cos's voluminous cotton skirt or barrel cut wool trousers.
The wrong shoe - just think of what you would normally wear them with, and pick the opposite!
